My Place of Refuge #NaBloPoMo
Describe a favorite place. Focus on how that place affects your sense of taste, touch, sight, sound or smell. ~ Adrienne McDonnell {Guest Prompt} I walk down a leaf strewn path, the sounds of birds, insects and random unseen animals fill the air, my camera is at the ready… Over time, the leaves have gone from deep greens to varying shades of gold and red to deep purples and soft browns… I have been here many times over the last few weeks. I come here to think, to relax, to enjoy nature but mostly, I come here to take pictures and just be. This is the Cape Girardeau Conservation Center,…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Brown
Without this challenge, I never would have noticed how many beautiful shades of brown there are in nature. There are deep dark shades that border on black, rich sables, sensuous chocolates and mouth watering caramels. There are even shades that have just enough green that in the right light they look olive. Yes, this week I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty of brown… And, last but not least, this one of my pastor’s daughter with her grandfather… It wasn’t taken for this challenge but I absolutely love it. How did you do with this week’s challenge? ABOUT THE SHADES OF AUTUMN PHOTO CHALLENGE The Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge is…

How Photography Helped Me #NaBloPoMo
What is your secret (or not~so~secret) passion? ~ Jean Kwok {Guest Prompt} Right now, my current obsession is photography. I absolutely love taking out my camera, hitting the streets and snapping pictures. I’m by no means a great photographer but I think I’m pretty good. And, even if I’m not, I’m having fun. The pastor at my church has allowed me the privilege of becoming the “unofficial” church photographer, which basically means that I take pictures at our events and post them to our church’s website. I also take pictures at different social events that I attend. I’ve found that my camera sort of acts as an ice breaker for…

Random Thoughts #NaBloPoMo
I know I’ve talked about this before but I really enjoy taking pictures, so I’ve decided to post a picture of the day on Sundays for the month of November. Just random pictures of things that catch my eye during the week, nothing big and fancy, just random fun stuff. How about that earthquake yesterday? Did you feel it? The hubs and I were talking on Facetime last night when it happened. He started looking around the room and he goes “The lamps are shaking…” At first he thought it was a train or something, earthquake never crossed his mind. But a quick check of Twitter confirmed Miss 14’s suspicions…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Purple
Finally, we’re at my favorite color ~ PURPLE! I absolutely love purple from the deep vampy shades to the softest pastels. To me, it represents royalty, uniqueness, boldness and creativity. Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Red
So are you all enjoying this challenge so far? I know I am. I’m learning so much from looking at the photographs that all of you have shared (and your tips and tricks have been invaluable). I think the main thing I’ve learned is always have my camera ready, because I never know when a picture~taking opportunity might occur… Last week, after picking up Miss 18 from school, we decided to visit the local conservation center just to see what they had… Oh my gosh, it was beautiful and crazy at the same time. There were all sorts of animals on display along with information about the indigenous peoples and…

Word Filled Wednesday: Your Light Will Break Forth
I started participating in the Word Filled Wednesday meme as a way to share my faith with others in the hopes that hearts would be touched and, perhaps, others will think about their relationship with Christ. I have accepted Christ as my personal savior and I believe that it is only through Him that we can receive the gift of eternal life. For more information on what I believe, click here. I’m linking up with Internet Cafe Devotions (click hereto learn more about ICD) for Word Filled Wednesday (click here to see this week’s edition).  WFW is a way for participants to share the message of God’s love creatively using a photograph or graphic…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Orange
If I thought last week’s challenge to find something yellow was next to impossible, I cannot begin to explain how hard finding something orange was… Â Seriously, where is all of the orange stuff? Kid you not, even the pumpkins were white. White pumpkins?! What is that? Then I remembered that I’d picked up some oranges on my last trip to the grocery store, so I took them out of the fridge and snapped away. Not the most inspired photographs but then, while driving to church on Sunday night, I saw this… And this… I was late for church but I think sometimes we need to just pull over and admire…
