    Pantone~Inspired Fall Color Challenge: Day 4 {In the Closet}

    24 October 2013 / 8 Comments

    Today’s color is “Carafe”, which looks a lot like brown to me. I assume that this is somehow related to the carafe in a coffee maker, so I figured why not match a rich dark roasted coffee bean? I absolutely love coffee. I love the taste, the smell, the feel, the sight… It’s just a feast for the senses. So finding something in a deep rich brown was incredibly easy for me. I wasn’t sure about the boots but I thought wearing the black ones would be a little too heavy. And, well, you know, fashion is all about taking risks, right? What was the last fashion risk you took? …

    Pantone~Inspired Fall Color Challenge: Day 3 {In the Closet}

    23 October 2013 / 7 Comments

    I think I may have hit a record. This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with a clothing challenge and certainly the most times I’ve ever posted fashion related items in a row. Go, me! Today’s color is “Koi”, which is described as a burnt orange. I have a couple of orange items, but I kinda wanted to see how this blouse would look paired with the skirt and cardi. I’m not completely sold. Maybe a belt? I do like the skirt though. It’s a wool blend that’s totally itchy and requires a slip or something to keep it off my skin but I like the artisan feel to it.…

    How to Create a Blog Signature Using PicMonkey {Tip Tuesday}

    21 October 2013 / 22 Comments

    So a few weeks ago I talked about how I wanted to spruce things up for Autumn because, well, I just don’t have the insert whatever word here to decorate my house. My original plan was to simply update my profile picture isn’t it cute? but that led to me updating my Twitter profile, which carried over to me updating the cover photo on my Facebook page, and ended with me overhauling my blog.  Snowball rolling down hill, anyone? Of course,I now have to change my signature so that it matches the feel of my new blog. sigh So, I started looking around at different signature creators, rolled my eyes, and thought, why…

    Pantone~Inspired Fall Color Challenge: Day 1 {In the Closet}

    21 October 2013 / 4 Comments

    I love a good challenge, especially when it’s hosted by librarians. Add in clothes and I’m all in. The first color up is “vivacious”: which is described as magenta. The whole time I was looking for something to wear, all I kept hearing was Blanche Deveraux from The Golden Girls talk about how she uses magenta to describe her mood when she’s not quite blue with depression and not quite green with envy… I think I kind of understand where Blanche was coming from… Magenta is one of those colors that isn’t quite happy but not really sad either. Or maybe it has the potential to go either way, depending upon…

    Share Your Good News {In the Cafe}

    17 October 2013 / 7 Comments

    If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know that I like to do a little something called “Fist Bump Friday”, where I encourage my friends to share something that has made them happy during the week. Sometimes we get so bogged down with life and the crazy that comes with it that we forget to recognize the good things. So I thought it’d be fun if we all shared and celebrated together. So please, share your good news in the comments below. Remember, it doesn’t have to be big or earth shattering. If it’s important to you, it’s important to me. This week, I’m happy that I finally…

    Coffee Talk: Parents, Protect Your Children {In the Cafe}

    13 October 2013 / 4 Comments

    Hi, and welcome to Coffee Talk. In case you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun. So grab a cup of coffee {or tea or whatever floats your boat} and let’s talk… When I read the news that the two~year~old son of Viking’s running back, Adrian Peterson, died, my heart broke. I sat at my desk and fought back the tears,…

    Throwback Thursday: Handwritten Treasures {In the Dark Room}

    9 October 2013 / 0 Comments

    Folded in my wallet are four letters that my sweet little babies wrote to me when I left home for my first business trip. At the time, they were 4, 6, 6, and 8. The notes were neatly tucked in the side pocket of my suitcase, to be discovered when I unpacked. What’re you sharing for Throwback Thursday? Follow my blog with Bloglovin

    Five Tips for Updating Your Profile Picture {Tip Tuesday}

    7 October 2013 / 5 Comments

    What is it about Autumn that makes people think pumpkins belong in everything? It does not. Pumpkins are good for three things: decorating, making pies, and describing a shade of orange. That is all. deep cleansing breath I have issues with pumpkin mania but that has absolutely nothing to do with this post except that the insanity starts in Autumn and Autumn makes me wanna change everything… Usually, I focus the changing on things like my closet. You know, organizing my collection of cardis, checking my tights for runs, etc. But this year, I decided to do something a little different. I decided to update my profile picture to match…
