Coffee Talk {In the Cafe}
Hi, and welcome to Coffee Talk. In case you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun. So grab a cup of coffee {or tea or whatever floats your boat} and let’s talk… 1. I have a little message for President Vladimir Putin: Yes, America is an exceptional country and we are an exceptional people. We are a nation founded on the…

Florals and Stripes {In the Closet}
“Only you could pull off stripes and florals…”, the hubs upon seeing my outfit. My response? Smile and nod. Of course, I would never admit to him that I was having second thoughts about my choice but I didn’t have enough time to change. Pattern mixing is so far out of my comfort zone but I’m trying to broaden my sartorial horizons. This is the second time I’ve worn stripes and florals. Of the two, I think this is my favorite version. I like the mustard against the turquoise and browns. And, of course, that skirt is probably my favorite thrift store purchase ever. It goes with everything. And it’s…

The Snugg iPad Case Review {#Sponsored}
When the hubs first presented me with Inez, aka my sweet little iPad 2, I was all What am I gonna do with this thing? I mean I was grateful and everything but it wasn’t at the top of my list of must haves or wants or even kinda sorta would like to have. I really was not interested. At all. Well, I can honestly say, this is one of those cases where the hubs knew me better than I knew myself. I take my iPad just about everywhere. It’s convenient and fits perfectly in my handbag. To protect it, I was using a hardback case with a zippered pouch,…

Thrift Store Chic {In the Closet}
Happy Wednesday! I hope you guys had a great Labor Day Weekend. I did, I got to see my twin sister and her family. Two days. In a row. By accident. The first trip to Nashville was on purpose, as in we fully intended to surprise her by just showing up at her front door. Which we kinda did. We ended up giving her a head’s up, ’cause, you know, driving 3 hours and then finding out she wasn’t home wouldn’t have been cool. That night as we were driving home, we realized that I had her boots and her stroller in my car, so we turned around the next…

I’m speaking specifically about the teen who shot and killed a baby after attempting…

Share Your Good News {In the Cafe}
A few weeks ago, I received an email from Amber at Section 391 asking if I’d like to join her, Jen at Librarian for Life and Style, and Shelley at Miss Lady Librarian for a CHECK US OUT: A back~to~school link up for librarians. Get it? Naturally, I said yes. I mean, how fun is it to see how other librarians dress for work ~ are they formal or casual? Do they play it safe or add a little bit of funk? I wanna know! And I know you do too, so check ’em out. See what I did there? School is now in full swing at the University and as much as I…

Weekend Wrap~Up {In the Family Room}
Are you ready to begin a new week? I am. Kinda sorta. This is the first full week that the students are going to be back on campus, so things are gonna be kind of crazy for a minute. My own kids have been back at school for a week now, so we’ve pretty much settled into a routine which is pretty nice. Our weekend was pretty non~eventful but there were a few hiccups, some laughs, a triumph, and a new beginning… 1. Can’t Multi~task Yes, this really happened. Lesson: I cannot talk to my aunt and cook dinner at the same time. Between the laughing, sharing memories, and catching…

Before I bring up this topic, I want to make it perfectly clear that anyone who engages in sexual (be it physical or emotional) relationship with a person…

The MV Mississippi: Largest Diesel Tugboat {In the Neighborhood}
The Hubs and I often have deep and meaningful conversations, especially on Saturday mornings when we’re trying to decide what we want to do besides eat breakfast… The Hubs: “What do you want to do?” Me: “I don’t know. What do you want to do?” The Hubs: “You can’t answer a question with a question.” Me: “Oh.” We finished eating breakfast in relative silence, both of us checking our cell phones and sending each other goofy jokes. Yeah, we’re those people. Then I saw a tweet from Visit Cape announcing that the MV Mississippi would be docked in Cape Girardeau and they’d be holding an open house. So I casually…
