10 on the 10th: All About Life-Long Learning
Hey, y’all, hey! How’re things in your neck the woods? Yesterday was our official return to work day after the summer break {I’m a 12-month employee, so no summer break for me} and it was good to see a bunch of familiar faces. We couldn’t have our normal convocation because COVID, so we had a virtual professional development day for our faculty. I presented information about the library, but I always get nervous with online presentations because you can’t tell if you’re connecting with the group or not. And I didn’t get any feedback when I asked if there were questions, so… Of course, I spent all last night overthinking…

I hope you had a restful weekend. I had my first mommy and son photo shoot on Saturday. I had such a great time and learned even more… I’ve never taken stylized photos of a toddler before and, y’all, I’ve forgotten how funny toddlers can be. The original plan was supposed to be mostly of the…

My Photography Project: Mommy and Son Photo Shoot
“She loved a boy very, very much — even more than she loved herself.” – Shel Silverstein MOMMY AND SON Toddlers are fun. And they do what they want. I learned that very quickly with this shoot. I’ve never done a styled shoot with a little before, so I went in thinking I could direct and pose. Nope. After I relaxed and decided to follow his lead, we were able to capture some really beautiful images that captured the connection between him and his mom. He told us he was going to Target after we finished to get a drink. This kid knows how to de-stress. …

I have a ton of books on my TBR Shelf, I realized something about my literary taste: it’s very singular. Actually, that’s not true. I read a lot of historical fiction and African American lit. I wanted to branch out and try something different this month, so I’m reading a thriller. I’ll post a few bookstagram pictures at…

Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support. Earlier this month I made a goal to try to read at least one book per month. Actually, I made the decision as a result of this post because, as I was going through my reading list, I realized a lot of my book choices were dated. Not that literature ever goes out of style, but that I…

Happy #FistBumpFriday
HAPPY #FISTBUMPFRIDAY Everyone who doesn’t have a pandemic puppy raise your hand. *keeps hand down* Yep, we adopted a dog last week and her name is Lola. Now that I’m back at work on a regular basis, I thought Bleu would like some company during the day. Bleu is all crickets chirping. I mean, she hasn’t snapped at her but she hasn’t exactly welcomed her with open arms either. Lola has been trying to lick her, but Bleu keeps turning the proverbial other cheek. The pictures above were taken after I went to the store and bought them matching beds. Bleu kept curling up in the smaller bed instead…
