THE AGELESS STYLE LINKUP Hi, welcome to the Ageless Style Linkup. The linkup runs the first Tuesday of each month and features 10 women over the age of 40 styling an outfit based on one theme, and, because we’re all so different, each theme interpretation is different. Each month, one of the co-hosts invites a guest co-host to join us for the linkup. Our goal is to show you that style is ageless… This month’s theme is: “Green” and was chosen…

Style Imitating Art Inspiration: Buttons by Dani Vaughn-Tucker
ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. My main tip for participating is not to just look at the colors but look at the textures, think about complimentary colors, etc. In other words, you don’t have to be literal your interpretation. It’s all about looking at the items in your closet in new and creative ways — mixing colors and patterns and just having fun. INSPIRATION ART WORK I took this picture waaaaaay back in 2012 when I first learning about photography. I look at the image and I see all the technical errors, and I cringe but I love…

Style Imitating Art: Ali Ibn Hamzeh Shrine in Shiraz, Iran
Hi, how was your weekend? Ours was OK. We didn’t do too much. A bit of grocery shopping, that’s about it. It’s been rainy and cold here, so we didn’t really feel like going anywhere. I can’t wait for Spring to arrive. I don’t mind the rain, I do mind the cold AND the rain though. But, what are you gonna do, right? Week 8: Winter
Welcome to week eight of my Project 52: 2019 Edition. If you’d like to see the prompts that I’m using, read this post. This week’s prompt is Winter. I know this isn’t a typically winter scene, but it is our winter. SOOC I took this at the SkillsUSA Competition at my school. I’d never heard of this until last week. Welders from different technical schools in the area came to our school to compete against each other. They take a series of written and welding skills tests – it’s so very cool. From what I understand, the nursing students also compete against each other in much the same way. EDITED…

Week 7: Love
Welcome to week seven of my Project 52: 2019 Edition. If you’d like to see the prompts that I’m using, read this post. Bollinger Mill Covered Bridge This is a photo from the archives, but it’s one of my favorites. You can see other images from the Bollinger Mill Covered Bridge by clicking here. When I lived in Missouri, I used to go to the mill to think. And take pictures. Back then my photos relied heavily on editing rather than skill. I can see the difference between how I shot then and how I shoot now. I wish I had the opportunity to go back and shoot again. I…

I hope you’ve had a great week so far. Things have been OK on my side. Not gonna lie, I’m so over this weather. One day it’s almost summer and the next it’s like winter is having a second life. I can’t deal. I wasn’t made for rollercoasters, especially when it comes to temps. On a positive note, I’m down 6 lbs. Yay! A few months ago, I was told that I’m pre-diabetic and need to lose some…

Style Imitating Art: The End of Romance by Erte
Hi and welcome to another round of Style Imitating Art. Have you guys been experiencing the bizarre warm-cold-warm-cold weather like us? Honestly, there were a couple of days where I wanted to pack my bags and move to the actual equator. And a few where I was like ahhhh, Louisiana, this is why I love you. I need consistent temps. That being said, these pictures were taken during the summer because the weather has been way too flaky to try to take some new ones.
